Stuck between a modern sans and a classic serif for a coffee shop logo
I was doing a logo for a new cafe and got stuck between using a clean sans like Inter and a classic serif like Garamond for the main name. I picked the serif for the main wordmark and used the sans for the smaller tagline about 'fresh roasted beans'. It felt warmer and more inviting for the shop's vibe. The owner loved it and said it looked 'like a real bookshop cafe'. Has anyone else had to choose between a modern and a classic feel for a food business? What did you go with?

Read a design blog that said serifs can make people think of trust and history, which is perfect for food. They feel handmade, like a recipe passed down. Your choice makes total sense for a cafe wanting that cozy, established vibe. Using the sans for the details gives a clean contrast so it doesn't look stuffy. That bookshop cafe feel is exactly the mood you want for people to sit and stay awhile. Nice call mixing them.

Honestly, felix_martin56, it's just coffee. People will drink it if it's good.
