Overheard a client call a font pairing 'cheap' because it used two serifs. That's just wrong.

Oh sure, it can look nice if you're a pro. For the rest of us, it usually ends up looking like two grandpas in the same ugly sweater arguing about the weather. The weights and moods just fight each other. It's a classic rookie move that screams "I just discovered the font menu." Stick to one serif and let a sans do the other work.
