My aunt said my wedding invite looked like a bank statement

She was helping me pick fonts and pointed out that my classic serif with a plain sans-serif looked too stiff. She said, 'Honey, this is a party, not a tax form.' It made me realize I was picking safe over fun. What's a good pair for a garden wedding that feels fancy but not boring?

Oh man, your aunt is totally right! I had the same issue for my backyard wedding. Honestly, we used a script font for our names with a really simple sans-serif for the details. It looked fancy because of the cursive, but the clean text kept it easy to read. It felt special without looking like a business letter.

Yeah, mixing fonts is such a good fix for that. It's like you get the pretty look without making your guests squint at the time and date. We did something similar, a swirly font just for our names and then plain text for everything else. It really does split the difference between formal and totally casual. What script font did you guys end up going with?

Swapping in a cursive font for the names saved our invites too.
