I thought pairing a script font with a serif was always a bad idea

I was working on a wedding invite for a couple in Savannah and tried Pacifico with Georgia for the names. It looked way better than I expected, with the casual script softening the formal serif. What other script and serif combos have actually worked for you guys?

Ngl, I was ready to throw my laptop out the window before I tried it myself. Pacifico and Georgia sounds like a risky combo but I bet it looked killer. @elliotburns mentioned Allura and Crimson Text which is another one I've seen work surprisingly well, almost like a secret weapon for wedding invites. Script and serif is definitely one of those "rules" you gotta break to see if it actually sucks or not.

Actually that's a good example of breaking a "rule" that's too strict. Pairing script and serif can totally work if the mood is right. In my experience, something like a simple, clean script with a sturdy old-style serif often balances out nicely. It's all about the vibe you're going for, like a friendly script can make a formal serif feel more welcoming. Your mileage may vary, but I've had luck with combos like Allura paired with something like Crimson Text for a similar soft feel.

Agree completely about mood being the key. Sometimes a script adds just enough personality to keep a classic serif from feeling stuffy. What other unexpected pairings have you tried that worked?
