Took me 3 hours to figure out why my ranunculus stems kept snapping
Turns out my water was too cold straight from the tap. Anyone else have a good temp they aim for?

So you just let the water sit out to warm up first?

My grandma in Florida always swore by room temp water for cut flowers, like around 70 degrees. Did you try using a thermometer to check your tap water, or was it just a feel thing? I'm wondering if the type of flower makes a big difference, because my carnations never seem to care.

That's such a good point about flower types! It really does feel like there's a hidden rulebook for every little thing, from plants to baking. My mom is the same way with her roses, always fussing over the water, while the daisies on the table get whatever's in my glass. Makes you wonder how many of these old tips are super specific and we just lump them all together. Your grandma's exact 70-degree rule is a perfect example of that deep, personal knowledge.
