Watching a DIY show finally clicked why so many homeowners mess up transitions
They always try to force the new floor flush with the old one, ignoring the subfloor height difference. I saw it again on a Reno show in Toronto, and the host just glued a reducer over a half-inch gap. How do you guys explain this to customers without sounding like you're just upselling?

Just show them a picture of a busted reducer from a past job, that usually gets the point across without a sales pitch.

Isn't it funny how this happens everywhere, not just floors? People want a quick fix that looks okay right now... they'll glue anything over a gap just to avoid the real work. It's like putting a band-aid on a broken pipe because you don't want to call the plumber. That reducer will be a tripping hazard in a year, and then they'll blame the materials.

Forget tripping, think about the moisture wicking up that gap and rotting the subfloor from underneath.
