Spent $500 on a new knee pad system and it's been a game changer

My old ones were shot after a big job in Springfield last month, so I bit the bullet on a full setup with the gel inserts and hard shell caps. My back and knees feel way better at the end of the day now. What's your go-to for saving your joints on long installs?

My uncle was a tile guy for forty years and swore by those gel inserts. He still walks without a limp, which is saying something. Good gear really does pay off over time.

How long did it take for you to really notice the difference? I had the same moment with a good pair of kneepads last year, felt like a total idiot for waiting so long. My old cheap ones just dug into the back of my legs all day. Now I won't even start a floor without my good gear, it's that much of a relief.

I mean honestly I think a lot of people overlook how the hard shells help too, not just the gel. @sam_harris68 is right about the gel inserts being key, but the hard caps on my new ones actually stop me from rolling my ankles on uneven subfloors, which was a bigger problem than I realized. I'd say after about a week of using them full time I felt the difference in my hips more than my knees, which I didn't expect. The old cheap ones I had before just kinda pushed all the pressure up into my lower back instead of spreading it out.
