Finally got the tricky herringbone pattern right on a kitchen floor in Bellingham
Three years ago, I messed up a herringbone install so bad I had to pull up half a day's work. Last week, I had a 120 square foot kitchen job with that same pattern. I laid out the whole center line with chalk, cut every starter piece at a 45, and just kept going. It clicked together perfect, no gaps at the corners. Anyone else have a pattern that gave you trouble for a long time before it just worked?

That feeling when a pattern finally clicks is the best. My own nemesis was a basic basket weave on a small bathroom floor. Took three tries to get the spacing right so it didn't look pinched. What was the trick that made it work for you?

Started with a full dry layout first.
