Vent: My tax software decided to file my return as a resident of Antarctica

I was finishing my taxes last night with a popular online service, and after hitting submit, the confirmation page said my filing address was 'Research Station, Antarctica'. I must have clicked something wrong in the state dropdown menu. I spent the next hour on hold with their support line trying to undo it before the IRS got a very chilly return. Has anyone else had a software glitch send their financial data to the wrong place?

Used to think tax software was foolproof until my own state got listed as a foreign country. Took me three days of calls to fix it because the system had already processed it wrong. Now I check that confirmation screen like a hawk for any weird details. Makes me wonder how many returns get lost in the system because of a simple menu click.

My brother's return got flagged one year because the software thought his middle name was a business name. He's a Michael J. Smith and somehow it split his name into two entities. Took the IRS 11 months to send a letter about it.

Honestly @river183, my tax guy found three of those errors last year alone.
