He said the whole project should be scrapped and started over from zero. That's after six months of work and a budget already spent. A fresh take is one thing, but that's just throwing everything out the window. It shows a total lack of respect for the team's effort. I can't believe he'd suggest something that wasteful.

Oh wow, that's exactly what I was thinking! I had a similar thing happen at my last job where a new guy came in and said our entire marketing campaign was a waste (after three months of work) and we should just toss it all out. @nancy3 is totally right, it feels like a slap in the face to everyone who put in the hours. Like, I get wanting to shake things up, but you can't just erase six months of effort like it's nothing. It's disrespectful and honestly makes you question if they even care about the team's time.
