Watching a bride's dress tear at a friend's outdoor wedding in Savannah made me rethink using delicate fabrics for high-movement designs.

I used to think sheer overlays were a must for a romantic look, but seeing that chiffon snag on a garden chair has me leaning toward more durable, structured silks for pieces meant to be worn and moved in, so what's your take on balancing beauty with practicality in formal wear?

Ugh, that sounds like a total nightmare. I saw a bridesmaid trip on her own hem at a beach wedding and the whole skirt just ripped open. Isn't it crazy how we pick fabrics for photos without thinking about real life? A heavy satin or a good taffeta can look just as amazing as chiffon but you don't have to worry about every little branch. Who wants to spend the whole party being scared to move?

My bridesmaids wore taffeta and it was perfect, @casey787!
