Tried sewing with thrifted bedsheets and it beat expensive fabric
Honestly, I grabbed a king-size sheet set from Goodwill for $8 last weekend and used it to make a mock-up dress. The cotton was softer than the $15-per-yard stuff I usually buy from Joann's. I learned that vintage sheets often have unique prints you can't find anymore plus they're pre-washed so no shrinking worries. Has anyone else tried this for pattern testing or actual pieces?

Found my friend a full set of 1970s floral sheets for five bucks and she wore the dress to a wedding last month.

@betty_fisher5 thats a solid come up, a whole dress for a wedding out of vintage sheets is the kind of score that makes you wonder why anyone bothers with new fabric. Do you find the older cotton holds up better after a few washes, or is it more about the patterns being one of a kind at this point? Bet that floral set had some serious character the modern stuff just cant touch.

Nailed it for sure. Snagged a set of 70s floral sheets for my living room curtains and that fabric just feels solid, not flimsy like the stuff today. The pattern is wild too, nothing like that in stores now.
