That moment a stranger noticed my collar stitching at a coffee shop
I was in line at a local shop in Austin last Saturday and this older guy behind me just pointed at my shirt collar and asked if I hand-finished the stitching. He was a retired tailor and spent 10 minutes telling me about how he can spot a machine finish from a mile away. Has anyone else had a random person call out a specific detail on something you made?

Funny you mention that, my roommate had a similar thing happen when he was wearing a hand-knitted beanie at a brewery. Some dude walked up and pointed out the way the yarn was twisted, turns out he was a retired textile engineer. It's wild how those little details stick out to people who spent their lives working with fabric.

That's a good point, does your roommate still wear that beanie? I'm curious if he ever looked up what the guy said about the yarn twist being right or wrong.
