My whole week got wrecked by a fabric supplier messing up my order

I had this whole collection planned around a specific wool blend from a mill in Vermont. I ordered 50 yards of it back in January for my spring line. The swatch was perfect, a soft grey with a slight texture. It finally arrived last Tuesday, and it's not even close. The color is way more blue, the hand feels cheap and scratchy, and there's a weird sheen to it. I called them up and they just said 'dye lots vary' and offered a 10% discount on my next order. That doesn't help me now. I'm stuck with $800 worth of fabric I can't use, and my production schedule is completely shot. Has anyone else had a supplier just completely fail to match their own samples like this? What did you do?

Ugh, classic "dye lots vary" excuse. Sounds like they sent you a completely different fabric.

My couch has two pillows that don't match and I barely notice.

Ask if they actually picked these out themselves or if this was some kind of "well it was on sale" situation. Because buying mismatched pillows for a couch takes a weird level of either intentional style or total laziness. Were you aiming for that "collected over time" look or did you just grab whatever was left at the store? Seems like there's a story behind those pillows and how they ended up on the same couch.
