Found an old magazine from 1998 and the shoulder pads were insane

Cleaning out my garage in Phoenix last weekend. Found a box of my mom's old fashion magazines. Flipped through a Vogue from October 1998. Every single suit and dress had these huge, structured shoulder pads. Measured one in a photo, looked like 3 inches thick. Made me realize how much silhouette trends swing. What's a design element you think is due for a comeback?

Actually, I hope they stay buried. Those shoulder pads were a crime against comfort. Can you imagine trying to drive a car or even just put on a coat with those things? Fashion should be about moving through the world, not building a fortress on your shoulders. The comeback we need is for clothes that actually feel good to wear, not just look dramatic in a photo shoot. Let the 80s and 90s power shoulders rest in peace.

Totally feel you on that. Trying to live your life with those giant shoulder blocks sounds like a nightmare. Comfort should always win over looking like a linebacker.

It's like that with so many stuff now, not just clothes. Everything is made for how it looks online, not how it works in real life. Furniture you can't sit in, tiny bags that hold nothing, shoes that wreck your feet. We're all just living in a showroom, and it's exhausting.
