Finally got my hands on a decent industrial sewing machine

Dropped about $800 on a used Juki and it's already saved my project. The old domestic machine kept jamming on heavy canvas, but this thing powers right through. Anyone have tips for sourcing heavy-duty zippers now?

Where are you located? I've had good luck with local upholstery supply shops for that kind of hardware. They often sell to the public and have the tough stuff. Online is hit or miss with quality.

Wait, local shops actually sell to the public? @michaelcoleman, that's a game changer. I always assumed those places only dealt with big furniture companies. I've been burning through cheap online rivets that snap after a few months on my patio chairs. The last batch bent just trying to set them. Finding a local spot with real, heavy-duty stuff would save me so much hassle and wasted money.

You ever read that article about how cheap hardware is actually way more expensive in the long run? It stuck with me because it's so true with things like rivets. I tried using whatever was cheapest on Amazon for my patio furniture and had the exact same problem, they just gave up after one season. The local shop near me sells a mix to both businesses and regular folks, and the quality difference is night and day. If you can find a place that specializes in upholstery or furniture repair supplies, they'll usually have the heavy duty stuff that actually lasts. Yeah you might pay a little more upfront, but you won't be replacing them every few months.
