Warning: I went with a full bar shoe on a navicular case when everyone said egg bar.
I had this 8 year old quarter horse with a clear navicular issue, and the vet and two other farriers all pushed hard for an egg bar shoe. I mean, it's the standard, right? But looking at the horse's breakover and how he moved, I thought a wide web full bar shoe with a rolled toe would give better support and let him land more flat. I put them on about three months ago. The owner just called to say the horse is moving better than he has in a year and the vet is surprised. Has anyone else tried a full bar over an egg bar for something like this?

Did the same thing on a thoroughbred with weak heels. The full bar gave a much more stable platform than an egg bar ever did. Saw improvement in the stride within a month.

Remember that big warmblood with the underrun heels? We tried egg bars first, no real change. Switched to a full bar shoe with some extra width in the quarters. The whole foot just landed differently, way more solid. Made a huge difference in his confidence on hard ground.
