Appreciation post: saw a farrier at the Kentucky Horse Park using a rasp I've never seen before
It was a flat mill bastard file with a custom wooden handle, and he argued it gives better control for finishing than a standard farrier's rasp, which got me thinking about sticking with traditional tools versus trying new adaptations.

That's not a new adaptation, a mill file is a pretty standard farrier's tool.

Feel the same way about my old framing hammer. Sometimes the simple tool you know best just works better for the job, even if it looks weird to others. Sticking with what gives you control makes sense.
