A trainer in Lexington pointed out my hoof angle was off by 5 degrees

I was trimming a quarter horse last month and thought the foot looked fine. The trainer said, 'That heel is too low, you're setting him up for a stumble.' I measured it and he was right. Now I use my protractor on every trim before I pick up the rasp. Anyone else get called out on something basic they missed?

That "heel is too low, you're setting him up for a stumble" line cuts deep. I made the same mistake with a gelding two years ago, missed by about 4 degrees and he started tripping on flat ground. A protractor changed everything for me too, it's humbling but keeps them sound. Good on you for checking it.
