Update: I picked the 'sunset orange' paint over the 'dusty rose' for my front door and now the mailman calls it the 'cheese puff portal' lol
I went with the brighter orange because my neighbor said it would 'pop' against the grey siding, but now I'm getting daily snack comparisons from delivery drivers, so what's a good bold but less food-like front door color that won't make me hungry every time I come home?

I read an article about this, how color names totally mess with our heads. They called it "sensory branding." Like calling a paint "mocha" makes you think of coffee, even if it's just brown. For a door, a strong cobalt blue or a deep forest green would still stand out against grey siding. Those colors feel solid, not like something from a vending machine.

Man, this is happening everywhere now! I've noticed companies keep naming colors after food to make them sound fun, but then our brains just can't unsee it. My sister's couch is called "sea salt" but it's totally pistachio ice cream green. For your door, maybe try a deep teal or a slate blue? They're still bold and will pop against grey, but people are way less likely to compare them to a bag of chips.

Wait, your sister's couch is called sea salt but it's actually green? That's a total bait and switch. They're just making up names at this point.
