The contractor painted my house in Seattle the wrong shade of gray. I made them redo the entire south side.

Yeah, I used to think people were being too picky about paint colors. Like, it's just a shade, right? But after seeing my neighbor's place, I get it now. They painted their living room a gray that looked fine on the chip, but in our cloudy light it just felt dead and gloomy, like a prison cell. @jesse863, it really can ruin a whole room's vibe. Now I check samples in every light before anyone touches a wall.

My buddy in Tacoma had his kitchen cabinets painted last year. They were supposed to be this warm off-white, but the crew used a super cold, almost blue tint. He didn't notice until they finished the whole first floor. It looked totally wrong in the light. He had to argue with the foreman for two days before they agreed to sand and repaint everything.
