Swapped mulch for gravel around my foundation and the look improved.
I had mulch that needed replacing each year. Tbh, gravel stays put and drains better, so no more washouts. Honestly, what alternatives have you tried for low-upkeep landscaping?

Gravel's the only thing that hasn't tried to betray me. Mulch was always getting moldy or blowing into the yard like it had some kind of drama. Tried rubber mulch once and it just felt wrong, plus it got stupid hot. At this point I trust rocks more than most plants. Low upkeep just means less chance for the yard to plot against you.

Honestly, gravel can still get weeds if you don't lay it right over a good barrier. I learned that the hard way last summer. It's low upkeep, but not zero upkeep like some folks hope.

There's a clear move towards low-maintenance choices in everything lately, not just yards. We pick stuff that won't fall apart or demand constant attention, like reliable cars or simple home gadgets. It's like we've all had enough of things that break or need fixing all the time. Gravel just makes sense because it doesn't ask for much, just like we want from our other stuff. Less drama, more time for actual living.
