Realized my house numbers were illegible after 5 years

Last week a delivery driver couldn't find my place at night. He called me and said my address numbers blended into the siding. I stepped outside and he was right. That sage green siding with dark brass numbers looked great in the daytime. But at night with a porch light it was invisible. Swapped them out for white reflective numbers from Lowes for $12. Now I wonder how many packages I missed before. Anyone else have a curb appeal choice that actually hurt functionality?

I get what you're saying, but I actually like when the numbers are subtle. A house number that's too bright or reflective can look cheap during the day, especially on a nice colored house.

My own house had dark bronze numbers on dark brick for six years before I realized nobody could read them after sunset. I felt like an idiot standing out there with a flashlight trying to find my own address. Now I've got big white reflective numbers that you can probably see from space, but at least the pizza guy doesn't call me confused anymore. Did you go with the stick-on ones or the screw-mount kind?
