My neighbor said my house looked 'flat' and it made me rethink everything
I was really happy with my new gray siding in Portland, but my neighbor pointed out it just blended with the roof and looked boring. I added some dark green trim around the windows and a bright red front door last month, and the whole place pops now. Anyone else get a piece of simple feedback that totally changed their curb appeal?

Yeah that "flat" comment is such a simple but brutal way to put it. Makes you notice how a little color in the right spots is basically all you need.

Spot on, @mitchell.wade. It's like a gray room with one bright red pillow. Suddenly the whole space feels alive. I see it in old cars too, a simple pinstripe or colored wheel nuts making the whole thing pop. That flat look happens when everything is safe and matches too much. A single green plant on a desk, a yellow mug in a white kitchen. Just tiny hits.

Totally get what you mean about the flat look. My whole apartment was beige and gray until I threw a stupidly bright orange blanket on the couch. Changed the whole vibe for like twenty bucks. It's crazy how scared we get of color sometimes, like everything has to be a neutral safe zone. A little weird detail is all it takes to make something feel like it's actually yours.
