My friend said my house looked like a 'beige box' and it hit me hard
We were just hanging out in my yard in Tacoma last month, and she pointed at my house and said, 'It's a nice house, but from the street it's just a beige box with no personality.' I had never really thought about it before. I just picked a safe color when we moved in. But she was right. The siding, trim, and front door were all the same flat, boring tan. So I spent a weekend painting just the front door a really deep, glossy navy blue. I also added two big black planters with some bright green ferns on either side of the steps. The change was crazy. Now the house has a focal point and looks way more welcoming. It made me realize curb appeal is about adding a little bit of contrast and something to look at. Has anyone else made a small change that totally fixed a bland exterior?

Remembered my neighbor painting his garage door bright red.

That red door rowan_anderson mentioned... is it really that big of a deal.

Picked a dark charcoal grey for my garage door and the trim around my windows. Whole house was this builder grade tan that just blended into the dirt. Took a weekend and a couple cans of paint, but now the place actually has some depth and doesn't look like a beige blob from the street. Did you swap out your house numbers or mailbox too?
