Hot take: My street looked like a different place after one neighbor painted their brick.

The house on the corner was this dark, dirty red brick for like 15 years. Last month they painted it a light cream color with black trim. It's crazy how much brighter and cleaner our whole block looks now, just from that one change. It makes the overgrown bushes on the other houses stand out way more, honestly. Has anyone else seen a single exterior paint job change the feel of a whole street?

Yeah, paint can totally shift the vibe. A house down the road went from brown to a really light blue and it made the whole cul-de-sac feel less gloomy.

My neighbor painted their garage door bright yellow last year and it's still the first thing you see driving into the neighborhood. It's a cheerful eyesore that makes everything else look dull. Kind of works, but also kind of hurts to look at.

Honestly, it's wild. The house across from me did something similar, and it made my own place look so much shabbier by comparison (not that it needed much help, to be fair). Suddenly I could see every crack in my own siding and how faded the shutters were. It's like one fresh coat of paint holds up a mirror to the whole block. Kind of a public service, but also a little rude of them to make the rest of us look bad.
