Am I the only one noticing everyone painting their front doors black now?

I was driving through a neighborhood in Austin last weekend and counted 7 black front doors in one block. It felt like 3 years ago everyone was doing this crazy bright teal or yellow to stand out. Last month my neighbor painted hers black and now the whole street is starting to follow. Is this just a trend that's going to make everything look the same in a few years or am I overthinking it?

LOL I feel so called out rn because I literally just painted my front door black last weekend 😭 I was all "this is so chic and timeless" but now I'm realizing I'm just basic and following the herd. My neighbor across the street has this gorgeous burnt orange door that used to make me jealous, but now I'm staring at my black slab like "congrats, you match everyone's Amazon cardboard boxes." Honestly the barn door comparison is too real, I had one of those too and took it out last year. At least the black paint is easier to cover up when we all inevitably pivot to hunting green or whatever comes next.

You're definitely not the only one noticing this. I live in a neighborhood outside Denver and I swear half the houses on my block have gone dark in the last six months. It's kind of wild how quickly it spreads once one person does it (like a weird, monochrome wildfire). I actually feel bad for the people who painted theirs teal or yellow a few years ago, because now they're probably the odd ones out. The whole thing reminds me of when everyone had to have a barn door inside their house, remember that? I guess black doors are just the latest way to feel modern without actually changing anything substantial about your house.
