Showerthought: My client's skin barrier repair over 8 weeks made me rethink my whole approach to active ingredients.

I cut her retinol use from nightly to twice a week and focused on a ceramide cream for 8 weeks, and the difference in her redness and texture was more dramatic than any aggressive peel I've done this year, so what's your go-to gentle reset protocol for compromised barriers?

Honestly, it makes you wonder how many people are just over-treating their skin into a constant state of stress. What if we all just stopped everything for a month?

That idea about stopping everything for a month hits on something bigger. I see it with food, too, where people cut out so many things they're just eating plain chicken and rice. Or with workouts, pushing through pain until they're hurt. It's like we're all trying to fix ourselves into a corner. The constant fixing becomes the problem.

But some skin really does need that daily help to stay clear.
