Showerthought: A client's comment about my extractions made me rethink my whole pressure technique
So about six months ago, a regular client who gets monthly facials told me something that stuck with me. She said, 'You know, my skin feels amazing after, but during the extractions, I always have to brace myself a little... it's a bit sharp.' I was using my usual stainless steel tool and my standard firm pressure, thinking I was being efficient. But her comment got me thinking... maybe I was prioritizing speed over comfort. I switched to using my gloved fingers wrapped in gauze for a lot of the smaller congestion, applying slower, more sustained pressure from the sides instead of direct downward force. The process takes a minute or two longer per area, but clients say it feels more like a release than a pinch. Has anyone else had a piece of feedback that made them slow down and change a core part of their routine?

Consider how many clients never speak up about the pain. Your regular was just brave enough to say it.

That's a scary thought, honestly.

Whoa, I gotta push back on that a bit. I see it differently honestly. Some people just don't want to complain or make a fuss. Plus a lot of folks don't even realize the pain isn't normal. They just think that's how it is. @paigewood mentioned how scary that thought is, but I think it's more about clients not knowing better. If someone's regular speaks up, good for them, but it doesn't mean everyone else is suffering in silence.
