Just changed my mind about using steam for every client
I had a client with really sensitive rosacea who kept having flare ups after her facials. I thought the steam would help open her pores, but it was making things worse. It took me almost a full year and talking to a derm at a conference to finally get it. The heat was a major trigger for her. I switched to just using a cool, damp compress for her pre cleanse step and her skin calmed down in two weeks. Has anyone else had to drop a standard step for certain skin types?

Dropped steam" sounds like the best spa day upgrade ever.

Oh, I have to respectfully disagree here. I know steam gets a bad rap for rosacea but for some of my clients a gentle, brief steam session has actually helped calm their skin. It opens up pores and lets products sink in better, which reduces irritation overall. The trick is keeping it short and at a lower temperature, not too hot and not too long. I've seen it work well for people with mild redness, but I can see how it'd be too much for severe cases. Just depends on the person, I guess.
