I was steaming faces way too close for way too long

A client last Tuesday said her skin felt tight and hot for hours after her facial, which was a red flag. I checked my steamer manual and realized I had it about six inches from the face for a full ten minutes, thinking more was better. The guide actually says eight to twelve inches for only three to five minutes. I dialed it back on my next three appointments and the difference in client comfort was huge. Has anyone else had to fix a basic technique they learned wrong early on?
