High-end extraction lamp was a mistake for my small studio

I spent $850 on that fancy LED extraction lamp everyone raves about. The one with the adjustable arms and the built-in magnifying glass. After six months of using it in my tiny room in Portland, I honestly think it was overkill. The light is harsh on my eyes after back-to-back facials and the magnifier just gets in the way. I could have gotten a decent magnifying ring light for under $200 that does the same job. My coworker has a basic setup and her extraction results look just as good as mine. Has anyone else found that expensive gear doesn't always make you a better esthetician?

Yeah exactly, I grabbed an $80 Walmart ring light and it works perfect.

@oscarwilliams nailed it. Fancy gear doesn't fix bad technique.
