Chose silicone peels over chemical peels for my clients in Denver last month...
Everyone at the last conference was pushing these new acid peels but I stuck with silicone peels for my sensitive client who gets redness. After 4 sessions her texture improved without the downtime or irritation. I think we hype up strong acids too much when gentler options work fine for most skin types. Has anyone else found a niche treatment that works better for your client base?

Yeah, I gotta push back on that a little. I've been doing chemical peels for years and the results are just faster and more dramatic for most people. Silicone peels are fine for sensitive types but they take forever to show real change. A lot of my clients want noticeable improvement not just texture smoothing after four sessions. Strong acids work great when you know how to use them right and adjust the strength. Silicone has its place but it's not the answer for everyone, especially if someone has deeper lines or sun damage.

Is it really that serious though? I mean, yeah, if you're trying to fix deep wrinkles and sun damage from decades of beach vacations, maybe a silicone peel is too gentle. But for the average person with some fine lines and dull skin, is the extra downtime and risk of irritation really worth it just to see changes a month or two faster? Seems like a lot of pain for not that big of a difference in the long run.
