A client brought in a jar of homemade turmeric paste for her facial and it was a game changer
She made it fresh that morning with organic turmeric, honey, and a bit of plain yogurt. We did a patch test first, then applied a thin layer after her cleansing step. Her skin looked so calm and even after the 10 minute mask, way more than with our usual brightening products. Has anyone else had clients bring in their own DIY mixes, and how do you handle it safely?

Dropped a whole jar of that turmeric paste on my counter once and spent the next week looking like I lost a fight with a highlighter. I mean, if the client is willing to sign a waiver and you patch test, I say go for it. My biggest issue is always making sure they don't have any weird allergies to random pantry stuff.

That sounds like a huge liability risk to me. Our insurance would never cover a reaction from an unknown ingredient mix, even with a patch test. We have to stick to products with known, tested formulations for client safety.

Always get a signed waiver first, but I've had great results with simple kitchen stuff like that. What did you use to take it off, just a warm cloth?
