Unpopular opinion: The old school manual governors are more reliable than the new digital ones, but last week in a 1972 building in Cincinnati I saw a digital one catch a fault the old one would have missed.

I'm torn because the digital unit flagged a tiny speed drift we'd never have caught on the analog dial, but the old ones are so simple there's just less to go wrong, so what's your take on which is actually safer for a 5-story traction job?

Honestly, that digital catch is huge. For a 5-story, I'd still pick the simpler manual unit for less overall trouble.

Yeah, because what's a little extra work when you can have that sweet, sweet analog charm.
