Switched from rope to synthetic slings for rail alignment and never looked back
I spent 3 hours trying to get a car level with rope slings on a job last Thursday in Chicago. Synthetic webbing slings grabbed the rail evenly and cut that time by more than half. Anybody else made that swap and noticed a big difference?

Hell yeah man that's a solid upgrade. I've been using synthetic for a few years now and the time savings is real especially when you're fighting with different car heights on the same track. Once you get a feel for how much they stretch under load it makes leveling way more straightforward.

Close but not quite @simonreed. Synthetic straps actually don't stretch much under load which is kind of the whole point of them. The time savings are real though for sure. Once you get past the initial learning curve of how the cam mechanisms react differently, you'll never go back to ratchets for most stuff. Just watch the edges on fresh synthetic since they fray easier than old school nylon if you're dragging across sharp corners.
