Swapped a stuck relay before replacing the whole controller board and saved a full morning
Had a car that kept getting stuck between floors last week on a 20 year old Otis. Everyone said swap the board but I traced it to a single stuck relay on the drive, $8 part and it's been running smooth for 4 days now. Any of you guys ever fixed something that simple after the senior guys said it's toast?

Bought a bunch of old elevator manuals off eBay last year, and there was a troubleshooting guide from the 80s that stressed checking relays before boards. Saved my butt on an Otis that was acting up last month, all because of one dirty relay contact. The older guys at my shop laughed when I started checking mechanical parts first, but they don't laugh anymore when I fix stuff in 15 minutes instead of 4 hours. It's wild how much we rely on swapping boards instead of actually looking at what's making them fail in the first place.
