Shoutout to the guy who told me to use a 3/8 drive for the motor coupling bolts on that old Dover last week
I was stuck between my 1/2 inch and the smaller one, and going with the 3/8 gave me just enough swing in the tight pit to get them all torqued down right without stripping a single head.

idk if anyone else had this problem but were your bolts like weirdly inconsistent? like some came out fine with the 1/2 but others just started galling right away. im just wondering because i had one on a old dover last year where half the bolts felt like they were made of butter and the other half were fine. the 3/8 would have been way easier on the soft ones but then i worry about snapping the hard ones off. did you run into that mix or were they all pretty consistent?

That's the right call. Those old Dover motor bolts can be real soft. A 3/8 drive with a six-point socket is the sweet spot for grip without overdoing it.

You sure about that? I've had way better luck with a 1/2 inch on those. They just round off less for me.
