Pro tip: I swapped to a digital torque wrench on a controller job and it threw the whole thing off.

The old analog wrench read 35 foot-pounds, but the digital one showed 28, and the car started drifting. Anyone else had a tool upgrade go sideways like that?

Wasn't there a thing about some digital wrenches needing a reset or calibration? I mean, that's a huge difference, no wonder it felt off.

My old shop in Dayton had a rule about digital tools. They always checked them against a master torque tester first thing Monday. @jake_mason30 is right about calibration, but the bigger issue is battery voltage. A low battery on a digital wrench can give a false low reading, so you under-torque. That seven pound difference is exactly what you'd see. Feels like a tool upgrade, but really it's a maintenance problem.
