My buddy had the same thing happen with a smart plug set. Spent like two hours trying to get the app to connect, and it just never saw the devices. He ended up throwing the whole box in a drawer out of pure frustration. Honestly feels like that cheap tech is just a total time tax on top of the money. You're better off waiting for a name brand to go on sale, even if it costs a bit more up front.
