Bought a $300 laser alignment tool for hoistway rails and it was a total game changer
I was doing a full rail replacement in a 12 story building and the old string method was killing my time. This thing got the rails dead straight in half the time, no guesswork. Anyone still using the old way or have you switched over too?

Old school string still works fine for me.

Sure, string gets the job done. But after dealing with a snapped line at the worst time, switching to a braided leader was a game changer for me. It just handles abrasion so much better around rocks and wood. The stuff is nearly invisible in the water too. You don't realize how much old mono can spook fish until you try the thinner braid.

Totally agree, it's a night and day difference! I feel you on the snapped line thing, that's the worst. Jake_mason30 might stick with string, but once you go braid you just can't go back. The thin profile and no stretch makes setting the hook so much better too.
