TIL a trick for stubborn ribbon cable connectors that everyone says is wrong

Had a laptop screen cable that just would NOT seat properly, and the usual advice is to never use force. After 30 minutes, I gently pressed down on the connector with a plastic spudger while using a hair dryer on low heat for about 10 seconds on the cable's plastic latch area. The slight warmth let it click right in. Has anyone else found a safe way to use a little heat on these fiddly parts?

Yeah, a tiny bit of heat can work wonders. Did something similar with the connector on a game controller, just used my thumb to warm it up for a minute first.

Guess we're all out here using our hands as mini space heaters now lol.
