Question about using a thermal camera for board-level work

I was fixing a laptop power circuit in a shop in Austin and the owner let me borrow his Flir One. Seeing the exact hot spot on a tiny capacitor saved me about two hours of probing. Do you think a basic model is worth the cost for general repair work?
