Pulled my first proper reflow on a PS4 last night and didn't mess it up
Been fixing consoles for like 4 years now, always just did cap swaps and drive swaps. Decided to try reflowing a GPU on a PS4 that had the blue light issue, used a hot air station set to 350C. Took about 6 minutes total and the thing actually booted up and ran GTA V for 2 hours straight. Has anyone else had luck with reflow vs a full reball on these old PS4s?

Hold up, are we really sure it's fixed and not just a temporary thing? I mean, 2 hours of GTA V isn't exactly a long-term test for a reflow job.

Actually, the thermal cycling from booting and shutting down is what usually kills a reflow after a few weeks, not just sustained gaming. I've seen reflowed GPUs pass 6-8 hour stress tests but die on the 30th cold boot when the solder contracts and cracks again. The real test is leaving it off overnight, then powering it on the next day cold. If it still works after 20 of those cycles, then maybe it's fixed.
