Pro tip: I stopped using generic thermal paste on gaming consoles after a repair came back

I had a PS5 overheat again just two weeks after I fixed it. Now I only use high-grade paste like Arctic MX-6, and I haven't had a single callback in six months. What specific brand do you guys trust for high-heat jobs?

Yeah, the cheap paste can just dry out or pump out way too fast under those heat cycles. I switched to Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut for my own stuff after a similar mess with an Xbox Series X. That stuff stays put. It's pricey, but you're right, it's worth it to not have to open the same console twice. I've even used it on a few laptops with old GPUs that run hot, and it makes a real difference.

My old PS4 ran for years with the cheapest paste I could find on Amazon. Never cracked it open again after the first clean. People act like you need lab grade materials for a game console, but most of the time the stock paste is fine if you just apply it right. I've seen so many posts where the problem was a bad mount or dust, not the paste itself. Spending twenty bucks on a tiny tube feels like a solution looking for a problem.
