Just realized my solder joint looked fine but was actually cold

I was fixing a busted tablet screen for a friend and thought the connection was solid. After it glitched again, I reflowed the same joint with more heat and flux, and now it works perfect. Do you always reflow suspicious joints even if they seem okay?

Does a joint that looks fine always need extra heat? I've seen plenty that held up without reflowing, so maybe it's overkill for minor doubts. Sometimes the problem is elsewhere, like a cracked trace or bad component. Unless it's clearly failing, I'd check other stuff first.

Three tablets later, I still trust the iron over my eyes!

Trusting the tool over your eyes, like the_john said, is a good life rule.
