Had a weird one with a 2018 MacBook Pro board yesterday
Customer brought it in with no power. Found 5 volts on PPBUS_G3H but nothing else. Checked the CD3215 chips, one was stone cold. Replaced it, board powered right up. But then the left USB-C ports wouldn't charge. Spent another hour chasing a tiny crack in a trace near the port. Anyone have a good source for those ultra-fine gauge magnet wire? The stuff I have is too thick for this.

Actually, PPBUS_G3H is 12.6 volts on those boards, not 5. Might wanna double-check that.

Wait, you got 5v on PPBUS? That's not right at all, are you sure your meter was working? That line should be way higher, like 12v. If it was actually at 5, the board would be in some kind of dead short protection mode. Did you check again after the repair?

Oh man, I've been there! My own boards probably have more jumper wire than original trace at this point.
