My block's electrical upgrade has me reminiscing
They're putting in underground cables on my street this week. It reminds me of when all the lines were above ground and we had to deal with weather issues more often. Do you guys think underground is always better, or are there times when overhead makes more sense?

Ugh I feel that lol. My old neighborhood still has those above ground lines and every big storm we'd lose power for hours. I remember one winter the transformer blew and we were stuck in the dark for like two days. The quiet after a snowstorm is nice, but not when your fridge is warming up. I'll take the mess of construction for more reliable power any day.

Used to defend overhead lines for being easier to access. Watching a tree take out the wires on my street every fall changed my mind. Now I see the peace of mind from buried cables is worth the upgrade mess.
