Hot take: I used to think all wire nuts were basically the same until a job in Phoenix last month.

I was doing a panel swap in an old house, and the homeowner, a retired engineer, watched me for a bit. He pointed at my bag of standard orange nuts and said, 'You know, the ones with the spring inside are a lot kinder on your hands after the hundredth twist.' I brushed it off as him just talking. But the next day, my thumb was killing me from crimping all those connections. I grabbed a pack of the spring-loaded kind on a lunch run, just to try them. The difference was crazy. They twist on smoother, feel more secure, and my hand didn't cramp up. I've been using them for every residential job since. Has anyone else made a switch like that on a small tool or part that ended up being a big deal?

My buddy had the same thing happen with his lineman pliers. He swore by his old pair for years. Then he borrowed a newer style with the angled head and cushioned grips on a long underground pull. He said it felt like he was working with half the effort, especially in tight boxes. He bought a pair that weekend and won't shut up about them now. What's the oldest tool you've upgraded that made you kick yourself for not doing it sooner?
