Weird thing happened after I sealed our basement floor myself

I used a standard concrete sealer from Home Depot on our 600 square foot basement in Edmonton and ended up with this weird cloudy haze that won't buff out. Anyone else run into sealers reacting weird with our hard water or humidity here in town?

Edmonton here too. I used to think any old concrete sealer would work fine in our climate, but a buddy of mine did his garage floor last year with the same stuff you probably grabbed from the blue store and it looked exactly like that. Cloudy mess that wouldn't go away. He ended up having to sand the whole thing down and start over with a specific water-based sealer that said it handled hard water on the label. Never would have believed it made that much of a difference until I saw his place and then mine side by side.

My buddy Greg over in Mill Woods tried the same thing on his 500 square foot basement in February. He was bragging about saving money by doing it himself but his floor ended up looking like a frosted window. He spent two weekends with a floor sander trying to fix it and finally had to strip the whole thing off with a chemical stripper. He said the hard water here just reacts with those cheap sealers and leaves that white film no matter how many coats you do.
